Bold YouTube comments can really help you and your channel stand out when you’re new on YouTube, and they’re super easy!

In the next minute or two I’m going to show you how to change the font on your YouTube comments to make them bold, add italics, put a strikethrough and my favourite – bolded italics.

All you do is put an asterisk before and after the words you want to make bold – so if I was going to write ‘This is written in bold text’ I would just put an asterisk before, and an asterisk after the text. When I submit the comment, you can see that it’s now written in bold text

You can italicise your text in much the same way – but by using underscores before and after – so if I was going to write ‘This is written in italics’ I would just put an underscore before and after the text. When I submit the comment, you can see that it’s now written in italics.

If you want a text strikethrough, just use hyphens (or dashes) before and after – so if I was going to write ‘This has a strikethrough’ I would just put a hyphen before and after. When I submit the comment, you can see that it’s got a strikethrough.

Perhaps the coolest thing is that you can stack your formatting – so if I wanted my comment to be in italicised bold text I would start by writing ‘This text is written in bolded italics’, then I would add my asterisks before and after, then I would add my underscores before and after.

You can apply formatting to single words, to phrases or to your whole comment – and you can mix and match as much as you want.

If you learnt something from this video, make sure you give it a thumbs up – and feel free to test all the combinations out down in the comments. Play with the formatting as much as you want and let me know what your favorite formatting combination is!

Blue skies!
